Ruling class is setting its favourite communal trap

Sir,

Sir,

I am writing to express my alarm at the present situation in the country, so succinctly captured in the article entitled `The ruling class is setting its favorite communal trap’ in the September 1-15, 2013 issue of MEL. The article begins by pointing out the tremendous anger in the broad sections of the population at the atrocious price rise and worsening of the conditions of life in the country. The people of India have understood that the main bourgeois parties of Congress and BJP have no solutions to the problems they face. The prospect of electoral rout for these parties, especially in Uttar Pradesh is haunting the ruling classes, as that would lead to the practical impossibility of forming a stable Government. The prospect of a hung Parliament is a spectre that is haunting the ruling class. Thus there is the imminent danger of major bloodbaths being organized across the length and breadth of the country, to create emergency like conditions, which would allow the ruling circles to try and sort out their differences on the one hand, and to offer a stable alternative of some sort on the other. It is important at this time to realize that all these activities of the ruling class receive protection and sanction from the Indian state.

This has been the sad history of the last nearly seven decades. Division of the Indian people is an important weapon in the arsenal of the Indian state. It is important to keep this in mind and to create a situation where the ruling class will not be able to carry out such a communal polarization of the country. I congratulate the CGPI for calling ‘…upon on political activists fighting for the rights and interests of the working class and toiling masses to foil the plans of the ruling class and its main political parties…’

Sincerely,

S. Nair, Kochi
