People of the world, including of our country, are told that the terrorism is the most important contemporary problem facing them. Against the backdrop of ISIS attacks and bombings on Syria by the alliance of European countries under the leadership of the USA and the whole world engulfed by the 'threat' of terrorism, Lok Raj Sangathan organised a program on Sunday, February 7, 2016 in Thane. The aim of the program was to reveal the true face of terrorism and make the audience aware about the necessity for Lok Raj.
The program was divided into two parts. It started with melodious and inspiring songs welcoming the audience and setting the tone for what was to come. The discussion itself was an audio visual presentation where young members of LRS explained the conventional meaning of terrorism and the role of the state in terrorist activities in the country, viz. Parliament attack of 13 Dec 2001 and Mumbai attack of 26/11/2008. These examples were used to illustrate the effect terrorist attacks have on people and society. The attacks are used to create fear, stop all protests and struggles against anti-people policies, break the unity of people by making everyone a suspect of being a terrorist, to divert the attention of people from their immediate problems, and to further curtail democratic rights of people. Every major attack in the world is used by imperialist powers to carry out armed interventions in some country or another and spend even more on arms by cutting on needs of people.
The audience was shocked to learn about the terrorism spread by the state in North East, Kashmir and Punjab over decades to deal with political demands of people of these states. The truth behind Operation Blue Star in Punjab and subsequent genocide of people of Sikh faith in 1984 revealed one face of state terror. The sufferings of people and the de-facto military rule in Jammu Kashmir andNorth East states revealed the other face of state terrorism. In the name of fighting individual terrorism, the state unleashes terror on a much bigger scale. Political problems are presented and dealt as ‘law and order’ problems. People fighting for their rights are called ‘anti-national’ and ‘terrorist’.
Terrorist attacks are used to pass a more draconian law than before. The continuance of the draconian AFSPA (Armed Forces Special Powers Act) despite the opposition of people reveals the true face of the state.
The role of various intelligence agencies around the world like CIA, Mossad, ISI and the RAW of the Indian state in nurturing, supporting and patronising various terrorist groups was dealt in detail and convinced the audience of the role various states have been playing in organising various terrorist attacks all over the world , including in India. When the dirty hands of these states in nurturing sabotage and terrorist activities throughout the world became clear to the audience, they could see their hypocrisy about ‘terrorism’. Terrorist groups are nurtured and used by states for achieving their goals as long as they do what they want.
The first part was concluded by showing the true face of US imperialism and explaining the true agenda of the US state which wishes to achieve world domination. It has been responsible for the most heinous crimes against people in various countries since the end of the World War II. The US state is the fountainhead of terrorism all over the world. It is not in the interest of people of our country to join the US sponsored ‘War against Terrorism” and develop close friendship with the treacherous US state.
The second part, after a short break, talked about people's movements against the unjust activities of their governments throughout the world. Various inspiring videos against unjust warsshowed that people have realised what were the real goals of the ruling classes behind these wars and ‘war against terrorism’. It became crystal clear to the audience that a united and organised effort was required by the people to stop and prevent India from following the same path of the imperialist nations.
At this juncture Lok Raj Sangathan was introduced to the audience as a platform for people to get organised and fight for their political empowerment. The work done by Lok Raj Sangathan over the years for the people was put in front of the audience and they were appealed to join the LRS movement.
The third issue of Spark: Voice of Youth was also released that day. The program ended on a high note with an invigorating discussion, leaving the audience convinced that the only solution to the problems of the people is Lok Raj.
