Call of Shaheed Bhagat Singh

This is in response to the principled and deeply researched statement of the CC of CGPI dated 10-3-2017 and carried in the March 15-31, 2017 issue of MEL, entitled `To respond to the call of Shaheed Bhagat Singh means to work for the revolution and socialism on Indian soil!' written prior to the anniversary of the execution of Bhagat Singh, Sukhev and Rajguru on March 23, 1931. The statement specifically notes,

1) that it is an occasion for all revolutionaries to redouble their efforts to achieve the goal of revolution and socialist India,

2) that the claim of the PM that the people of India breathe the air of freedom as a result of the sacrifice of these men is completely false, with examples of the oppression of women, youth, lower classes and so on, and that there is an intensification of the exploitation of the broad masses, working people and peasantry.

The conclusion from the above is that the work of the revolutionaries is still far from complete and one has to overthrow the present system of exploitation of the vast majority by a handful of big capitalists, landlords and other parasites.

The words of Bhagat Singh that are quoted in this statement from an era of colonial slavery of over eight decades ago are so modern in their content that they are worth reading and re-reading. The description of revolution and what it means and what it is to deliver are as applicable today to modern India, as they were to colonial India, where the colonial marauders may simply be replaced by our domestic marauders. The maturity of the line advocated by Bhagat Singh, who was, among other things inspired by the great October Revolution, will serve as a beacon today as it did at that time. In particular, it is the line that one cannot compromise is the part that needs to be highlighted. What this latter means is that one has to today recognize the following

  • that the root of the problems of India lie in the transfer of power in 1947, and the preservation of colonial machinery,
  • that one must organize to solve problems through collective action based on scientific analysis,
  • that revolution is the call of the day to end feudalism, capitalism and imperialism,
  • that it is necessary to end the rule of the big capitalists, and establish the rule of the workers and peasants, as well as a voluntary union of the nations that constitute India.

I also second your call `Long lie the words and deeds of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev! Inquilab Zindabad!'

The truth is that there IS an alternative. The alternative is to reorient the economy to fulfil people’s needs instead of fulfilling capitalist greed. This is the program for the Navnirman of India.

Manifesto 2014Unite around the program to reconstitute the Indian Republic and reorient the economy to ensure prosperity and protection for all!

There is growing realisation among workers, peasants and other self-employed people that the program of liberalisation and privatisation only serves to enrich an exploiting minority at their expense. Mass resistance is growing to this anti-worker, anti-peasant and anti-national program.
