President of the Desh Bhagat Yadhgar Committee, Comrade Gurmeet Singh Dhada, General Secretary, Comrade Gurmeet Singh, committee member, Chiranji Lal Kangniwal,  and main speaker for the function, Dr. Joginder Singh, head of the History Department of Guru Nanak Dev University, Director of Bhai Vir Singh Sadan, Amritsar, and former chairman of Namdhari Chair, were seated on the dias. The proceedings were conducted by Amolak Singh.

All the speakers highlighted the relevance of the path taken by the Ghadaris in the context of the burning problems facing Indian society  today.

Comrade Gurmeet Singh spoke about the aim and programme taken up by the Hindustan Ghadar Party. He also spoke  about the Centenary of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre and paid tribute to all the martyrs. He declared that the events related to the observance of the centenary of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre will culminate in a meeting on November 1, 2019, during the Mela Ghadari Babain da.

Comrade Chiranji Lal Kangniwal emphasized the need to uphold the Ghadari Flag, and to follow the path of the Ghadaris. He especially highlighted the role, contributions and sacrifices made by women in the Ghadari movement. He said that it is the demand of the times that we do not let the colour of the Ghadari Flag fade. He emphasized the need to elaborate on the goal of the Ghadaris in order to turn their dreams into reality.

Dr. Joginder Singh, said that the Jallianwala Bagh massacre is a historic symbol of peoples’ unity and solidarity and united struggle. This massacre is a lighthouse for the struggle against imperialism and its lackeys. He said, some pro-British and narrow minded organisations did not condemn the Jallianwala Bagh massacre at that time, instead they called upon the people to back the British Government. He also said that the historic importance of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre is not being given its due place. Revolutionary leaders, writers and those who sacrificed their lives and who were from the Muslim community who fought for complete liberation from colonial rule  are not being given their due place in the history of our country.  We need to raise our voice against this. After this, the Mazdoor Ekta Lehar team screened a film “Ghadariyan di Pukaar – Inquilab”. The film narrates the  history of the Ghadar Party, the thought material that the ghadaris gave rise to, and calls upon the people to build the society that the Ghadaris dreamt of. This film has been produced under the guidance of Comrade Lal Singh, General Secretary of the Communist Ghadar Party of India.

Concluding the meeting, Committee President Comrade Gurmeet Singh Dhada said:” there is need for the present generation to take inspiration from the lofty aims, sacrifices and spirit of selflessness of the Ghadaris and move forward to fulfill all that they stood for”.
